Ubuntu Manual Icons

Getting Started with Ubuntu 10.04 needs icons to mark Warning and Advanced notes in the document.

First row Warning, based on the icon in the Humanity set, rest Advanced. dangerous bend approach inspired by Knuth (thanks Kevin Godby).

    Nice. Prefer the first ones.

Looking forward to the manual. Just Ubuntu needs.

  2. How about for warning, instead of making up your own icons, which will leave some readers inexperienced with Ubuntu having to guess what you mean, just use standard icons. And this doesn’t just apply to your icons, there’s a reason the standard warning triangle was created and used.

  3. Kevin Godby says:

I prefer the second column of icons as the black border will look better in print.

@Aoirthoir: The first row is a slightly modified standard warning icon. (We had to modify it because there’s an issue with Inscape or PDF and the gradients.) I’m not aware of a standard icon for ‘advanced’, but if you know of one, please let us know and we’ll take a look!
